The second half of 2023 saw a massive growth in AceCryptor-based malware spreading in the wild, including through several spam campaigns in which AceCryptor packaged the Rescoms RAT.

This week, ESET researchers published an analysis showing an increase in detections of AceCryptor, one of the most popular cryptors-as-a-service (CaaS) used to help malware stay under the radar. From the beginning, ESET has observed that attackers spreading Remote Access Tool (RAT) Rescoms have also exploited AceCryptor, marking a shift in its usage patterns over the past few months. In these campaigns, AceCryptor was leveraged for campaigns targeting businesses in several European countries.
