Evasive Panda has been spotted targeting Tibetans in several countries and territories with payloads including a previously undocumented backdoor that ESET has named Nightdoor.

This week, ESET researchers published their analysis of how an Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) group targeted Tibetans through attacks on watering holes and supply chains. The cyberespionage campaign – which ESET very confidently attributes to the China-aligned Evasive Panda group – took advantage of a religious gathering known as the Monlam Festival to entrap Tibetans in several countries and regions for at least September 2023.
