Publishing a set of important technical articles did not lead to an increase in traffic.

Monitoring Support Statistics

I’ve been working on this series about routing your home network or business network traffic through AWS to increase security. This allows you to inspect traffic and provides better protection for devices on the remote network as well as traffic to and from those locations to AWS.

I’ve been working on the series for over a week. It’s a little complicated. I had to write several articles because it was too long for one article. I needed to explain some concepts before I could move on to the next topic. I didn’t publish the articles until it worked. Then I started posting quickly at a faster pace than normal.

Even though I posted more posts per day, it didn’t lead to an increase in stats. Although it seems like more and more people are following me and a large number of people are liking stories as I post them one at a time, this is not leading to an increase in traffic on Medium .

I reported my stats last night on Medium, published a couple of articles and didn’t get anything back until the next day. Even the next day, the stats started off pretty slow compared to normal. Additionally, my reading ratio (reads/views) was lower than normal. This seems strange.

Here are my stats for today after posting another social media story in the morning and then in the afternoon. In the afternoon I posted the overarching story that ties into all the others and explained that the series was now finished and what was in it. This is a topic that a lot of people seem to struggle with on AWS. Honestly, I expected more success, but no.

The most popular post last month was related to the AT&T news blackout. These technical publications are viewed over time, but do not appear to cause a spike in traffic.

It’s 5:52 p.m. and here are my current stats. 1.3K views and 385 reads.

10:41 p.m. ~ 1.4K views ~ 431 reads. This is low for me even though I published a bunch of new stories.
