Average statistics on a Saturday morning | by Teri Radichel | Biting Bugs | February 2024

Check if statistics have been recorded… finally

This morning I got up to see if I had any Medium stats. Yeah.

Saturdays are usually slow, but as you can see here, the stats have started to come in…sometimes.

But as I wrote in the last post, I didn’t get any stats for six hours, which is not normal according to the old stats page. I received visitors until midnight, then just after. I would also get more statistics afterwards because I publish relevant information for software developers around the world and there are a lot of software developers in India.

So the fact that Medium cuts off statistics at a certain time of day and then restarts them later is quite suspicious. If this happens to you, report it to Medium. If I report it, I might fix it for me, but not for everyone on the platform.

It could be that this is intentional or that Medium doesn’t know it’s happening – that someone has hacked the system and is diverting your revenue-generating stats to another account to make money.

Only Medium can understand with certainty what is happening because it has the systems, statistics, and logs to solve the problem.

The other thing is that this problem got worse when I went through and changed all the code areas in my stories to type=None. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, but there was definitely a bug in this box of code.

I’m not sure, but this issue may have been fixed, but my stats first increased after making this change and then dropped again.

Follow for updates.
