Your iPhone just got a new feature called iMessage Contact Key Verification, designed to help protect your messages from prying eyes.

Apple has released iOS 17.2 to all users and includes a new feature intended to protect users from attackers who could misuse the company’s iMessage server infrastructure. Called Checking the iMessage ignition keythe feature “automatically verifies that you’re messaging with the person you’re considering,” protecting people from attackers intending to read or listen to other people’s conversations.
