If Thomas Edison had not tried and failed repeatedly (1,000 times), paid attention to the results, and changed his approach to correct each flaw, the invention of the electric light bulb might have been called into question. Trial and error, admission of errors, recognition of the obvious, and correction are the basis of scientific endeavour.
