The US Department of State has released its Visa Bulletin for November 2023. This is a big problem if you’re waiting for your priority date to be current so your green card application can move forward.
If you don’t know what a “visa bulletin” or “priority date” is, we’ve got you covered. Start by checking out the Boundless guide on How to read the visa bulletin.
If you’re already familiar with these terms, scroll down to our summary of key developments or to the filing category that most concerns you:
Each month, the State Department calculates the current backlog for various categories and uses that data to create a projected date. Immigrants who have a priority date on or before this date can begin the next step in their process, either by filing an application for adjustment of status or by filing with a consulate abroad an application for immigrant visa.
The dates below are the “filing dates” that tell you when you can start the next step. The visa bulletin also displays “final action dates” which determine when the application can actually be considered. The difference between these two dates is generally approximately how long USCIS expects to take to process applications.
