X’s privacy policy update has sparked questions among privacy and security officials, including how long X will retain users’ biometric information and how the data will be stored and secured .

Will you give X your biometric data to help secure your account on the site? The social media platform formerly known as Twitter has announced that it will start collecting biometric data from its paying users in order to help fight against fraud and identity theft on the site.

The X update Privacy Policy – which also includes an initiative to start collecting users’ jobs and work history – has inevitably sparked discussions and questions from privacy and security officials, including:

  • How long will X retain biometric data?
  • How will the data be stored?
  • How will it be secure?
  • Why will this decision only apply to paid users?
