Additional CRS points for Express Entry can be earned in the following ways:

If you want to rise to the top of the competition, getting a provincial nomination is the ultimate strategy to stand out. Candidates opting for a provincial nomination obtain 600 CRS points. Those who choose this path with impeccable organizational and professional skills will undoubtedly prosper. Those who can identify an employer sponsor for recruitment will be successful. Priority occupations in each province vary and are subject to change over time. Canadian provinces have used their Express Entry-based PNP streams in a variety of innovative and dynamic ways over the past few months and years. To ensure eligibility for provincial nominations and categories, candidates must maintain up-to-date profiles and remain vigilant for any updates. Upon successful application and receipt of a certificate of nomination under the Provincial Nominee Program, candidates will receive 600 valuable Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. People fluent in French will be granted an additional bonus as well as the accumulation of points for mastering a secondary language. The second language with NCLC 7 with CLB 5 or higher will earn an additional 50 CRS points. These 50 points can be deducted to 25 points if the proficiency in English falls under NCLC 4.

  • Improve qualifications

Upgrading your level of study results in an automatic increase in CRS points. Verification of the ECA (Educational Credential Assessment) is required for qualifications obtained abroad other than in Canada. Improving your language skills can increase your score; however, achieving Canadian benchmark 9 or higher could earn an additional 100 points, which, combined with other factors, totals 260 points. To increase the overall CRS score, a candidate in the Express Entry pool must persist in taking language courses and retry language assessments frequently, as proficiency in English and/or French contributes greatly to their eligibility. If you are bilingual (i.e. fluent in both English and French), you can take both language tests and obtain maximum CRS points in this section.

The applicant can earn an additional 15 CRS points if their sibling resides in Canada as a permanent resident or citizen. The sibling’s place of residence also helps the candidate for the provincial nomination.

  • Valid job offer from a Canadian company or LMIA
