Financial services company Paysign said it was investigating reports of a data breach involving consumer information after hackers attempted to sell a database purportedly owned by the company and containing million records.
“We are aware of recent reports of an alleged data breach of Paysign consumer information. We are investigating this claim,” the company said in a statement to Recorded Future News.
“We take the security of our customers’ information very seriously. There has been no interruption to our services and Paysign cardholders can continue to use their accounts.
The Nasdaq-listed company declined to answer further questions about whether and when it had suffered a security incident.
Country sign brought generated approximately $12 million in revenue last quarter from its prepaid card programs, payment processing systems and digital banking services. Last June, the company announcement a deal with Mastercard that would see the two companies collaborate on product development and more.

On Wednesday, a user of the cybercriminal forum called “emo”, claims stole 1,242,575 records containing customers’ full names, addresses, dates of birth, telephone numbers and account balances.
The hacker claimed the breach occurred on Wednesday.
