Problem with AWS M7i EC2 instances again | by Teri Radichel | Biting Bugs | December 2023

The first copy and paste no longer works, it no longer initializes

I have two AWS EC2 instances.

One is an M7i-2extralarge.

The other is an M7i-flex.large

I randomly have issues with one or both.

Just now I was working on the M7i-2extra large and the copy and paste to RDP stopped working. I changed nothing. Now, copy and paste always worries me a little, since I work in security.

Anyway, I decide to try restarting the instance. For some reason this never works. I have to stop and start the instance, otherwise I can’t start using UDP again as I wrote here:

So I stop the instance and restart it. But I still can’t get back to it. It hangs in initialization state.

I restart this instance – the largest one – and also start the other one.

I can’t get into the extra large. It just comes down to this:

Now the other instance that was running before all this time is also suspended in the same way.

Which makes it very difficult to complete a project with an urgent deadline.

I can connect to hosts with SSH. I haven’t changed anything about xrdp and I think a shutdown and start would solve the problem, right?

When I log in, I see this:
